What I ate this week #4
The kitchen has required a lot of effort this week and to be honest I've mostly avoided both it and the washing up.
Most ADHD meal of the week
Not a food story, but still very ADHD coded. Was on my way to the GP, running a little late. I figured being 5 minutes late would basically be on time given you always end up waiting. The surgery called me when I was on route, 5 minutes before the start of my appointment. Turns out, I got the time wrong and was already 15 minutes late. Thankfully my lovely GP agreed to a phone consult so I pulled over and did the appointment in the car then and there.
Biggest food fail
This week it's about my dog. She's a labrador so she's basically a walking stomach. One day at the dog park this week there were some adorable puppies which I delighted in cuddling. Ater touching the puppies, she refused to eat any treats from my hand at the park. The stench of betrayal was clearly too strong.
Biggest win
Was feeling fancy but also low effort. Spread hummus on a plate with some finely diced pickled chilli, cumin, paprika, olive oil pine nuts and sesame seeds. Added Yumi's koftas, some spinach for greens and kewpie mayo for a bit of pizazz. Enjoyable. Probably could have used a sweet component like cherry tomatoes for balance, but would eat again.
Worth sharing
A while back on a forage into a Japanese grocer I found some sachets of dashi stock powder which were super handy to have around. Often I would use them to dress up rice. I haven't been able to find dashi in the regular supermarkets until recently. This Kikkoman dashi soup base/sauce has been dressing up just about everything I cook at the moment.
3 takeaway containers out of 5. Maybe next week I'll cook a bit more.
